About Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge
A stone-built lodge set into the western rim of the Ngorongoro Crater at about 2,300 m, with every room looking out over the crater.
Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is built of river stone into the western rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, at around 2,300 metres. From the lodge it is about a 30-minute drive to the crater descent road.
Each of its 74 rooms and suites has a balcony looking over the crater; room types include king, twin and triple rooms and the larger Kimba Suite. Evenings on the rim are cool, and the lounge gathers around an open fire.
There is Wi-Fi throughout, the Maisha Spa, a restaurant with crater views and a bar. The lodge can arrange guided nature walks, Maasai village visits and trips to Olduvai Gorge and Empakaai Crater. It is about four hours from Arusha by road, or two hours from Lake Manyara airstrip.
Waking up on the crater rim and starting your crater game drive early, without a long drive from Karatu, is the best way to see the Ngorongoro Crater, and the views from every room are unforgettable.
